The Synthesis of a Controlled Release System Based on MMT Added IPN Type Hydrogels

The purpose of our study is to develop a controlled Naproxen releasing system for anti-inflammatory, analgesic treatments. Interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) type hydrogels were obtained by using natural polymers alginate and gelatin. prepared combining Alginate Gelatin in the presence Glutaraldehyde as crosslinker Montmorillonite (MMT) clay was used nano-dimensioned layered dopant. characterized via hydrogel formation, swelling/degradation measurements, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis. Swelling tests presented that MMT decreases swelling. From SEM micrographs, it can be seen added has smaller more pore than other. release studies maintained Britton-Robinson Buffer (BRB) solution (pH=7.4) at 37°C. It observed swelling profiles compatible with behaviors. kinetics are match Fickian diffusion.
